Meet the 10-year-old who blew away Iowa State Fair judges with his harmonica playing

August "Gus" Major's learned to love the blues from his dad who is in a band. So it only made sense that the 10-year-old would enter the Youth Harmonica Contest at the Iowa State Fair.

Some might have been a little blue about being the only contestant, but not Gus.

Gus received a blue ribbon to match his love for blues, and this wasn't the first year he was a winner. Major won the 2023 harmonica competition as well. This year, he even did some singing to accompany his harmonica playing.

He hopes to come back next year with some competition, his mom Andrea Quam said.
