TJ High grad wins world drum corps championship

As friends and family members glued their eyes to the livestream at a home watch party in Frederick, Gov. Thomas Johnson High School graduate Robert Phillips played the bass drum and competed in a world championship hundreds of miles away.

Drum Corps International, the governing body of drum and bugle corps, which sponsors music programs and competitions, held its 2024 World Championship Final on Aug. 10 in Indianapolis.
