Lakeland radio station WONN has changed its format from music, featuring soft oldies and adult standards, to become an affiliate of the Fox Sports Radio network.

The station, broadcast on 107.1 FM and 1230 AM, made the format change on Aug. 5, it said in a news release. The station, owned by Hall Communications, now carries coverage of regional and national sports, as well as commentary and discussion of sports.

"We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter with our listeners," Bob Walker, vice president of programming for Hall Communications, said in the release. "The switch to Fox Sports Radio allows us to deliver dynamic content that resonates with sports fans across Lakeland and Polk County. Fox Sports Radio has an amazing line-up of the most popular sports talk shows, and we’re so pleased to be a part of their family."

WONN will continue to air University of Florida football and men’s basketball games and will start carrying Tampa Bay Buccaneers game broadcasts, previously aired on a sister station, WLKF. For more information, visit FoxSportsRadioLakeland.com .
