LIMA — A Lima man received a plea deal Thursday in the Allen County Common Pleas Court, offering him to plead guilty to two felonious assault charges with firearm and weapon forfeiture specifications.

The deal will expire on Sept. 30, which is the scheduled day for a suppression hearing stemming from a motion to suppress any statements Johnson made to police filed by Stephen Chamberlain of the Allen County Public Defenders Office.

David Johnson, 42, was indicted on two counts of discharging a firearm on or near a prohibited premises and six counts of felonious assault from events that occurred in June.

A previous news release from Lima Police Det. Steven Stechschulte said Lima police officers were dispatched to an ongoing dispute between two families, and Johnson fired 13 shots at the crowd. Several shots hit a car parked in a travel lane, and two shots struck pedestrians who were there because of the fight. The pedestrians had non-life-threatening injuries.
