Ohio: $33 Million in Recreational Marijuana Sold During First 18 Days of Legal Sales

According to the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (DCC), there was $32.9 million worth of recreational marijuana sold during the first 17 days of legal sales.

Based on DCC data, licensed marijuana dispensaries in Ohio sold $32,967,100 worth of marijuana and marijuana products between August 6 and August 24. During this period there was 3,664 pounds of plant material sold, and 502,049 “units of manufactured product”.

The average price per gram of dried marijuana flower as of August 24 was $9.14, a $0.28 decrease from the average the week prior.

When you add the $1,933,207,521 worth of cumulative medical marijuana sales, all-time legal marijuana sales in Ohio are now just short of $2 billion, at $1,966,174,438.

Currently, there are 120 dispensaries in Ohio that are licensed to sell recreational marijuana. Stand-alone recreational marijuana stores are expected to open sometime in 2025.

Ohio’s recreational marijuana law, which took effect on December 7, allows individuals aged 21 and older to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana and 15 grams of marijuana concentrates. The state’s Division of Cannabis Control, part of the Department of Commerce, oversees the licensing and regulation of the marijuana industry.
