Sauce Garnder shares four-word Jayden Daniels prediction after joint practice

Sauce Gardner was impressed after seeing Jayden Daniels in action for the first time when the New York Jets practiced against the Washington Commanders this past week.

The two teams have been facing each other in controlled scrimmage sessions, with them set to play each other in their first preseason game of the year. Daniels is yet to be named the starter for the Commanders, after the franchise selected him with the second overall pick in the draft... but it appears that he's thriving after making the jump from the college game.

Jets' shutdown cornerback Gardner has come up against some of the best quarterbacks in the league in his first two years, and sees something special in the Heisman Trophy winner .

When asked about Daniels this week, Gardner told reporters: "Oh, he gonna be nice. I was just talking to him down there, and he was like, 'I would've been able to get that throw over anyone but you.'

"We was just joking with each other. I know LSU, I know they talk a lot, so when we first lined up, I was talking, 'he young, he young,' I was just trolling him, and he was smiling.

"I just told him you're going to be real good. It was great just to be able to line up against him. As a corner, you wanna go against a rookie quarterback, but he's one of those guys; he's developed; obviously, he was drafted that high."

Daniels was also seen speaking with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers for an extended period - who the former LSU has previously stated is one of his favorite players in the league.

Despite being the second-overall pick in the draft, though, Daniels appears to still be battling for the starting spot heading into the season alongside veteran Marcus Mariota.

Intriguingly, Daniels is set to play in pre-season games for the Washington Commanders despite NFL teams regularly holding out their starting players out of such fixtures.

Daniels comes into his rookie season with many have questions about his game, being a one-year wonder in college football after struggling for three seasons with Arizona State before transferring to LSU - playing alongside two first-round wide receivers in Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr.
