A nice day in the meadow turned horrific after a mom accidentally recorded her toddler getting viciously kicked by a wild horse in Nevada.

“I thought she had died because she was unresponsive,” Haley Wilkey recalled about the harrowing incident. Olivia's mother had to hold her head together for 45 agonizing minutes until aid arrived since her skull fractured from the severe attack. The 3-year-old somehow made it through the terrifying ordeal and was released from the hospital less than a week after her near-death experience . Her mother even managed to get video footage of her equine attacker.

Olivia is shown in the video observing the stunning black Mustang as it grazes on the grass at Mount Charleston, which is located 40 miles west of Las Vegas , from a distance of a few feet. Two wild horses appeared as Wilkey, her husband, and their four kids were at the mountain range taking pictures for another family.

"What is it?" Wilkey asks her kid, who replies politely, "It's a horsey." The video cuts at that moment when Olivia turns back to face the wild horse, which has a maximum weight of 1,000 pounds. Shortly after, the young girl was attacked and mauled by the beast.

As her father drove down the mountain to get cell coverage in the remote location, Olivia's screams startled a stranger who helped save her life, Wilkey told Fox. “He had a first aid kit. He gave me gauze, helped me put pressure on her head until the bleeding slowed a little. If we let up a little bit of pressure, it would just start flowing again,” said Wilkey.

Wilkey added, “It was like, I think, almost 45 minutes of holding her head shut waiting for the ambulance to come.” The young child was taken by paramedics to a chopper, which took her to University Medical Center.

Olivia's family posted a fundraising on GoFundMe , stating that a neurosurgeon repaired her fractured skull during a three-hour procedure.

She also had a cerebral contusion, a brain bleed, and a "severe concussion." Olivia was communicating to her loved ones just three days after suffering severe injuries, and she was discharged in less than a week. Her appreciative family informed Nevada that they are sharing their experience in an effort to alert other parents to the presence of wild horses on Mount Charleston.

Wilkey acknowledges that she was too close to the animals in retrospect, but she now asserts that she would leave the meadow as soon as the horses arrived.
