Wreck involving 18-wheeler leaving highway ends in fatality

NATCHEZ — Mississippi State Troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving an 18-wheeler on U.S. 84 east near McNeal Road and the Natchez Trace overpass.

The accident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The driver, 49-year-old Robert Berryhill III of Smithdale, left the roadway and collided with a creek embankment for causes that are still under investigation, said Corporal Craig James of Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said deputies arrived on the scene and administered CPR until state troopers arrived but he was deceased.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
