NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s deputies and Natchez Police officers are searching a wooded area near Lower Woodville and Saragossa roads right now for a suspect who hit a deputy’s parked vehicle and fled the scene. Natchez Police officers began a chase after the suspect.

The suspect crashed his vehicle into a light pole on Lower Woodville Road near Saragossa and fled into the woods, said Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten.

The incident began at approximately 9 p.m. when a suspect hit the deputy’s vehicle at Susie B. West apartments.

The suspect’s car caught fire when it hit the light pole. Natchez Fire Department firefighters responded to put out the blaze and are still on the scene. Southwest Electric Association workers responded to the scene because of the downed power lines.

ACSO deputies and NPD officers are on a manhunt. This story will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
