Smoky Mountain Humane Society announced it is set to receive a $10,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of its lifesaving work for animals in Cocke County.

Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested nearly $400 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like Smoky Mountain Humane Society — across North America, with 6.8 million pets adopted and counting.

“Our investment in Smoky Mountain Humane Society is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses patented image-recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”

“The continued investment by Petco Love in our community has a tremendous and meaningful impact,” said Smoky Mountain Humane Society President Ali Chiaradio. “This is the fourth consecutive year that Petco Love has invested in the mission of our organization as well as providing free vaccines through their vaccination campaign Vaccinated and Loved. The pets of Cocke County have benefited greatly from this partnership. We plan on using a portion of this year’s investment to help offset the veterinary medical costs incurred treating wounded and sick pets and for critical medical supplies.”

Smoky Mountain Humane Society is a 501 © (3) organization serving Cocke County, Tennessee. A no-kill animal rescue, it has provided care for pets throughout the community, including vaccinations, microchips, community food pantry, foster program, adoptions, training and more.
