New King and Queen kick off the Sandusky County Fair

The Sandusky County Fair kicked off to a big start with a new King and Queen at the fairgrounds in Fremont.

A lively contest for the 2024 Sandusky County Junior Fair King and Queen took more than two hours, including the Royalty Parade on Monday, with their year of supervisory duties starting immediately.

The contest included five candidates for queen and two for king.

Runner-up for queen was Markiska Rakay, representing Ribbon Wrangles 4-H Club, and king runner-up was Edison Stawowy, of Old Fort FFA.

Kayla Schwochow, representing Fremont FFA and Projects Unlimited 4-H Club, was crowned queen, and Ike Durell, representing Target Masters 4-H Club, crowned king.

They were crowned by 2023 Queen Ryleigh Statterlee and King Cyle Schwochow.

The event was started on Monday by exciting the fair attendees with a half hour Royalty Parade. The 2023 king and wueen were at the head of the parade of golf carts, which featured all the royalty, down to the Little Miss and Little Masters, as well as the royalty of each animal category.

The candidates quickly ran off to have regular fair fun, checking out the rides, fair food, contests and all of the events on the race track.
