Booneville mayor federal civil trial set for October 2025

OXFORD – A year-old $1.5 million civil lawsuit against Booneville and its mayor over an alleged assault in 2022 will not go before a federal judge for another 14 months.

The lawsuit that claims Booneville Mayor Chris Lindley unlawfully arrested then “physically assaulted and battered” a 17-year-old male juvenile at a city park in April 2022. The victim, now-19-year-old victim Zion Young, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in late April 2023. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages from Lindley and the city of Booneville.
