    Who is Stu McNay and how to watch him in the Olympics

    After competing in four Olympics , Providence resident Stu McNay is setting sail for a fifth, this year setting a course for Paris.

    McNay is one of s everal Rhode Islanders competing in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Team USA is sending nearly 600 athletes to the games this summer.

    If you want to root for Rhode Island's McNay during the competition, here's what to know.

    Who is Stu McNay?

    McNay will be competing in the 470 event, where a two-person crew pilots a dinghy through a set course. He placed fourth at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

    As a two-time All-American at Yale and is a three-time national champion, he has been considered one of the country's most accomplished sailors for almost 20 years.

    McNay's partner this year will be Lara Dallman-Weiss, a Minnesota native who also qualified for Tokyo in 2021. Both have been listed under "sailing stars to watch" in an article on the official website for the Paris Olympics.

    Where and when to watch Stu McNay

    Olympic Sailing Schedule & Results will allow viewers to stream the event online.

    McNay will be competing in the mixed dinghy event, with the first race scheduled for Aug. 2 at 6:05 a.m. The next mixed dinghy races will take place Aug. 3 through 5, all three at 11:05 a.m. On Aug. 6, the races will begin at 6:15 a.m.

    Even if you skip the previous races, the medal race is scheduled for Aug. 7 at 9:43 a.m.
