MT. PLEASANT, MI (RAILFAN JOURNAL) - Railfans and football fans will have a unique opportunity this weekend (September 9, 2023) when Central Michigan University plays host to the University of New Hampshire.

While most fans will arrive by car, the lucky ones will arrive in grand style, by train. The Steam Railroading Institute is offering fans an opportunity to ride the train to the game or simply a ride to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan for those not wishing to attend the game.

The train will depart the Institute’s headquarters in Owosso, Michigan at 9am with the trip lasting approximately three hours. The game will kick off at 1:30pm. Upon conclusion of the game, the train will depart for Owosso.

Tickets for this unique experience are still available, with a standard package including a ticket to the game costing $85 and a ticket for just the train ride $75. Please note, this excursion will not be steam powered.

Departure times are subject to delays due to freight traffic or mechanical issues. All firearms (Concealed or Open Carried) are prohibited on the property or on any locomotive, car, or equipment of the Steam Railroading Institute. Smoking on the train or in the SRI Welcome Center is also prohibited.
