Jafar Williams, formerly of Temple and Virginia Tech, joining Vanderbilt football staff | Report

Jafar Williams, who was most recently the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Temple, is joining Vanderbilt football's staff, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Williams changed his profile photo on X, formerly Twitter, to a photo of the Vanderbilt logo.

Williams also worked as the wide receivers coach at Virginia Tech (2019-21), Rutgers (2016-17), Howard (2009), Illinois State (2007-08) and Moravian (2006) and the running backs coach at Maryland (2018) and Purdue (2013-15).

Williams parted ways with Temple after the 2023 season.

Because of a new NCAA rule change, any staffer can coach on the field, but a limit of 11 coaches can participate in off-campus recruiting. Not including Clark Lea or Williams, the Commodores have 25 coaches currently listed on their online roster. That includes wide receivers coach Alex Bailey, running backs coach Ghaali Muhammad-Lankford and assistant running backs coach Josh Adams.
