It may not have been the prettiest of wins, but Alabama football pulled away for a 42-16 victory over South Florida on Saturday night.
It was not a dominant fashion quite like the previous week’s season-opening 63-0 win vs. Western Kentucky, but it did mark the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide ’s first win on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Legendary coach Nick Saban was honored pregame and during halftime with the official unveiling on the field named in his honor.
The Alabama offense struggled to get things going at times against the South Florida defense, finishing with 393 yards of offense compared to its 600 vs. WKU. Jalen Milroe scored Alabama’s first two touchdowns with his legs while connecting with Kobe Prentice for a 16-yard score in the second half followed by a 43-yard scoring pass to Ryan Williams. Jam Miller broke through the right side for a 56-yard touchdown, and Justice Haynes iced it with another score in the latter moments.
A 22-yard Cannon field goal got the Bulls on the board in the fourth quarter. USF's field position was set up by a Justin Jefferson targeting penalty, disqualifying him for the remainder of the game. Alabama now leads 21-16 with 6:45 left in the game.
Ta'Ron Keith rushed the ball three-yards up the middle for the Bulls first touchdown of the night. USF was originally going for a 2-point conversion, but a false start call on its offensive line saw the Bulls settle with the point-after attempt. Alabama now leads 14-13 with 9:35 left.
Milroe carried the ball in from five yards out for his second rushing touchdown of the night. The touchdown capped off an 11 play, 75-yard Alabama drive. Alabama leads 14-6 with 3:38 left in the second quarter.
Jalen Milroe scored Alabama's first touchdown of the game on a 10-yard touchdown run. It capped off a 10 play, 65-yard Crimson Tide scoring drive. Alabama leads 7-3 with 5:08 left in the first.

Kadyn Proctor is out again in this week's game. In his place at left tackle was Tyler Booker while Geno VanDeMark got the start at left guard, Booker's usual spot.
