FACEBOOK users are experiencing a glitch in the site’s algorithm that is bombarding their feeds with “Happy Birthday” posts of people they don’t know.

Widespread reports from people all over social media on Wednesday indicate that their entire feeds are filled with random users’ birthdays .

“Why is MY FEED filled with ppl who I don’t know telling some random mutual ‘Happy Birthday,’ asked one user on X.

“Why am I seeing every single person, who I am NOT friends with, wishing the folks who I am friends with ‘Happy Birthday,'” asked another.

“My entire feed is ONLY this. I can’t refresh,” she said, explaining she is only seeing birthday wishes from the friends of her friends.

And it turns out, this is not the first time this glitch in the algorithm occurred.

The last time this happened was in 2022 when pages were plastered with users commenting on celebrity profiles.

The 2022 incident was resolved within a few hours.

Meta has yet to comment on the most recent birthday issue and did not immediately respond to a request for comment on its causes or when it would be resolved.

At the time, Facebook blamed “a configuration change” that “caused some people to have trouble with their Facebook feed,” but did not elaborate.

Two years ago, users’ entire feeds were filled with “Happy Birthday” posts from fans of celebrities like Taylor Swift , Billie Eilish , Harry Styles , and more.

#FacebookHacked quickly became one of the top trending hashtags on X , then Twitter at the time, but there is no evidence that the glitch was the result of a hack of any kind.

“This is my entire feed,” posted one user in 2022, sharing a screenshot of her page filled with posts for Eminem and Billie Eilish.

“Holy s**t is the timeline feed a disaster right now,” wrote another.

And now, two years later, it appears the situation has come full circle – but without the celebrities this time.

This time around, the issue appears to be a “botched modification to the Facebook recommendation algorithm,” according to popular X account VX Underground – which touts itself as “the largest collection of malware source code, samples, and papers on the internet” with over 300,000 followers on X.

“Facebook is starting to piss me off,” said one under on Wednesday.

“My timeline is flooded with people saying happy birthday to people I forgot even existed,” wrote another.

“For some reason, my Facebook feed has been absolutely invaded this morning by people I’m not friends with wishing a friend a happy birthday,” said someone else.
