Celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month this September with Sherwood Public Library and the American Library Association.

We’re inviting everyone to discover the incredible resources and opportunities available at your local library. Join the celebration by getting a library card during the month of September and be entered to win one of four $25 gift cards. Card holders must have a Sherwood address to be eligible to win.

This year, Optimus Prime from the “Transformers” is the national ambassador, highlighting that there’s more than meets the eye at libraries. Use your library card to access a world of resources thanks to Washington County Cooperative Library Services. Read ebooks and listen to audiobooks on Libby, stream videos using Kanopy, learn a new language with Mango Languages, and access live homework help in English, Spanish and French online through the Brainfuse HelpNow service. Take practice exams with Brainfuse JobNow. Tune up your software and business skills with videos on LinkedIn Learning.

Get your e-access card in an instant at wccls.org/online-card , then head over to wccls.org/research to make the most of the library. Visit us in person to upgrade your card for checking out any of the nearly 2 million items available to you through WCCLS, including our Library of Things laptops, hotspots, tools, gadgets, tabletop games and more.

Sherwood Public Library celebrates the freedom to read

    Banned Books Week

We find ourselves, each other, and freedom in reading. Banned Books Week (Sept. 22-28) is an annual event of the American Library Association celebrating the freedom to read and highlighting the value of free and open access to information. Public libraries affirm the right and responsibility of parents to guide their children’s library use, and the right of Americans to choose their own reading material.

Visit us in person or at sherwoodoregon.gov/library/BBW2024 for more information.

Sherwood Public Library celebrates Welcoming Week

Just in time for Welcoming Week, we’re launching a fresh series of Citizenship Classes starting Sept. 12. Want to study on your own? We have citizenship resources in our Welcoming Corner for you to use. New to the area or needing some ideas for ways to enjoy the region? Find tourist information and maps to keep here at Sherwood Public Library. Welcome!
