New coffee chain that previously flirted with Wichita is now coming with three sites

After one false start a couple of years ago, Wichita finally is going to get a Ziggi’s Coffee .

Wichita Lawn Care owner Adam Frey and his cousin, who prefers not to be named, plan to open at least three of the drive-through coffee kiosks in the Wichita area.

Previously, another couple of franchisees had planned to open a Ziggi’s in Maize.

Frey and his cousin now have first right of refusal on any Ziggi’s sites in Wichita, but Frey said they’d be happy to let the Maize franchisees open if and when they’re ready.

“They already have their land picked out and everything,” Frey said.

Though Ziggi’s is a coffee business, Frey said he finds it interesting that 80% of the drinks the business sells are cold drinks.

That includes iced coffee, tea and energy drinks, such as Red Bull-infused frozen and iced beverages. There also are Italian sodas and fruit smoothies.

One of Ziggi’s specialties is a spicy mocha drink, served iced, hot or blended. It also has a dedicated kid’s drink menu that lists frozen beverages with names like Cotton Candy Blender, Unicorn Punch and Frozen Campfire Cocoa.

There also are breakfast burritos as well as items such as scones, breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon rolls.

There’s no seating inside Ziggi’s, but there will be some outdoor tables with umbrellas.

Frey said he and his cousin are real estate investors and own rental properties.

“It seems like the rental market is a little harder right now,” he said.

When they began exploring potential franchises, he said they liked the policies and procedures at Colorado-based Ziggi’s to “maintain speed and quality.”

“It’s going to produce a great product at a quick speed to keep people happy.”

Their first Ziggi’s will be in Rose Hill at 906 N. Rose Hill Road across from a fire station and near a strip mall.

Frey said the city was particularly welcoming.

He and his cousin have another site in northwest Wichita under contract.

Frey’s longtime former schoolmate Stephanie Wise of Street Commercial handled the Rose Hill deal and is helping with his other deals.

Look for the Rose Hill Ziggi’s to open by late this year or early in 2025, and the west-side site should follow next spring or summer.
