    North Bend’s Farm wins district tennis title

    North Bend and Marshfield will each be represented at the state tennis tournament this week.

    The tprnament is Thursday through Saturday in Corvallis.

    North Bend’s Raegan Farm got momentum heading into the Class 4A-3A-2A-1A state tennis tournament when she beat three-time state champion Patricia Dougherty of Klamath Union for the District 3 title last week in Medford.

    Farm beat Dougherty 6-4, 6-4.

    Last year, Farm also won in the district championships, but fell to Dougherty in the championship match.

    North Bend’s Grace Clark lost in the district quarterfinals, one round from advancing to state. She was beaten by Lexi Mills of St. Mary’s 7-6, 6-0.

    Clark earlier had beaten Marshfield’s Helena Blood, Henley’s Meredith Brown and Isabella Segura of Klamath Union.

    North Bend’s Mila Davidson won one match before losing to Natalie Hunt of St. Mary’s 6-2, 6-0 in the third round.

    Marshfield’s Mia Schaefer beat Crystal Arias of Phoenix and Gracelyn Prulhiere of North Valley before losing to Henley’s Kendall Wilson 6-2, 6-2 in the third round.

    Marshfield’s Becky DeGan and Ashley Rodruguez-Gutierrez both lost their first match.

    In the doubles portion of the tournament, Marshfield’s Gwyn Button and Morgan Picatti finished third to earn a trip to state.

    The pair lost to Pratheeka Weerakoon and Carys Chamberland of St. Mary’s in the semifinals 6-3, 6-1, but bounced back to beat Alyse Perez and Cassidy Bogatay of Klamath Union 7-5, 6-4 in the third-place match.

    Button and Picatti beat Cascade Christian’s Annalise Buck and Allie Darland in the first round and then had three-set wins over both Liliana Castillo and Liliana Cano of St. Mary’s and Madison West and Olivia Smith of North Bend.

    They beat Klamath Union’s Marley Ogao and Leah Segura 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals to earn their spot at state.

    Marshfield’s Mallory Edd and Siena Beckett lost in the quarterfinals to Sydney Holdermann and Piper Ravassipour, one round from advancing to state.

    They earlier beat Hidden Valley’s Lillian Wieberg and Alexia Murillo.

    Marshfield’s Reanna Mathias and Olivia Conde lost to Klamath Union’s Perez and Bogatay in the second round.

    BOYS

    Marshfield also advanced a doubles team to the boys state tournament.

    Connor Middendorff and Peter Mathias reached the semifinals before losing to Lucas Peterson and Landus Ho of St. Mary’s 6-4, 6-1. In the third-place match, the Marshfield pair fell to Logan Norton and Wyatt Jensen of Klamath Union 6-3, 6-3.

    Middendorff and Mathias beat Hidden Valley’s Sebastian Green and Diego Sanchez 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals to earn their spot at state. They beat James Beers and David Clark of St. Mary’s in the third round and Jake Kerley and Adam Kucinsky of Henley in the second round.

    Marshfield’s Jesstun Moen and Nemias Chambers were eliminated by Henley’s James Parker and Asher Larson in the third round.

    The Pirates’ other two pairs, Mark Bowles and Jonath Putman; and Spencer Pederson and Zander Acker lost in the second round.

    North Bend’s Beau Parrott and Isaac Adams lost in the third round. Teammates Cameron Gaudette and Wyatt McLarrin were eliminated a round earlier.

    St. Mary’s swept all the spots for state in the singles bracket.

    The top South Coast finisher was North Bend’s Orion Truong, who lost 6-1, 6-1 to Cyrus Oliva of St. Mary’s in the fourth round.

    Truong earlier beat Marshfield’s Eliot Aley, Henley’s Will Grayson and North Valley’s Liam Roby.

    North Bend’s Carter Richards and Marshfield’s Devon Pederson also were eliminated in the third round and North Bend’s Cameron Metzgus was eliminated in the second round.
