On the night of Aug. 16, a report was made to the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office regarding a stolen Bob-Cat zero turn mower and a 1952 Ford “red belly” tractor. Detectives were assigned the case and through the course of investigation it was found that the property had likely been taken by a suspect identified as Marty Allen Benge, age 33 of Boonville. A search warrant for Benge’s property was obtained and executed on Aug. 19.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the search warrant produced the lawn mower in question and it was recovered for the owner. Further investigation during the execution of the search warrant also allowed detectives to determine that the tractor had been taken to a secondary location. The tractor was also located and recovered. Arrest warrants were then obtained for Benge.

Benge was arrested on Aug. 21 and charged with one felony count of Larceny, and one felony count of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. A secured bond of $25,000 was set along with a court date of Aug. 28 in Yadkin County District Court.
