    Officials say West Nile Virus detected in Lackawanna County

    THROOP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials in Throop have announced a positive case of the West Nile Virus.

    A release from Lackawanna County Communications Director Patrick McKenna states this is the second case of the virus being found in a mosquito in Lackawanna County, though no human cases have been reported at this time.

    The Department of Environmental Protection recommends eliminating standing water on their properties as they’re breeding areas for mosquitoes.
