Fog to Blanket Central and Western UP Tonight; Thunderstorms Possible Tomorrow

Marquette, MI — National Weather Service - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Marquette, Michigan, issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook on Monday afternoon, cautioning residents of central and western Upper Michigan about the possibility of patchy fog tonight. The fog is expected to develop primarily away from Lake Superior, with the south-central Upper Peninsula potentially experiencing dense fog, reducing visibility.

    Thunderstorms Possible Tuesday

The outlook also highlights a slight chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday, particularly along developing lake breeze boundaries. These storms are most likely to occur in the interior regions of the western and central Upper Peninsula. While the threat of severe weather remains low, the possibility of brief thunderstorms could bring sudden downpours and lightning.

    No Spotter Activation Needed

At this time, the NWS does not anticipate the need for weather spotter activation. However, residents are encouraged to remain aware of changing weather conditions, especially if traveling in areas prone to fog.

    Conclusion

Residents of Upper Michigan should prepare for potentially dense fog tonight, which could make travel hazardous in some areas. Tomorrow, there is a slight risk of thunderstorms, particularly in the interior parts of the western and central UP, although severe weather is not expected.
