City council meets ahead of final Tropicana Field redevelopment vote
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — St. Petersburg city leaders met Tuesday to discuss the latest changes to the Historic Gas Plant District redevelopment project. It was the last step before the city council takes a final vote on the $6.5 billion project, which would transform Tropicana Field into a major new mixed-use development.
Hundreds of St. Pete condos face inspection deadline
Condominium owners in St. Petersburg face towering uncertainty as over 200 buildings must complete Milestone Inspection Reports by Dec. 31. A new state law requires mandatory structural studies on older condo buildings with three or more stories. Senate Bill 4-D also requires association boards to increase repair funding reserves, and many owners now face six-figure special assessment fees.

It’s time for summer slashers, and one passion project, DEER CAMP ’86, made major waves in the genre. While the film was shot predominantly in Michigan, the indie project also came to St. Petersburg to film several scenes with the area’s own Paul Wilson. A 20-year-old man critically injured in a two-vehicle traffic crash at 22nd Avenue South and 13th Street South on Sunday has died. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on July 14th. A blue Toyota Corolla, occupied by Jeremiah Jones of St. Petersburg and a 26-year-old man, was traveling eastbound on 22nd Avenue South at a high speed.
