July 17, 2024 - Portofino’s Italian Ristorante recently closed after 30 years of serving diners in South St. Petersburg. Christopher and Patricia Conley bought the restaurant from its original owners in 2018 and blamed the closure on the pandemic and inflation in an interview with WTSP. Condominium owners in St. Petersburg face towering uncertainty as over 200 buildings must complete Milestone Inspection Reports by Dec. 31. A new state law requires mandatory structural studies on older condo buildings with three or more stories. Senate Bill 4-D also requires association boards to increase repair funding reserves, and many owners now face six-figure special assessment fees.
