    Monday-Tuesday Roundup: Meadowbrook, Sheridan grab key volleyball wins

    NEW LEXINGTON — Visiting Meadowbrook grabbed a key Muskingum Valley League Small School Division win on Tuesday, topping New Lexington in three sets, 25-18, 25-20, 25-20.

    Katie Stoney paced the Colts' attack with 18 kills and Nora Smithberger added 14 kills. Natalee Norman also hit eight kills with a team-high 18 digs, Addy Sichina dished out 36 assists, Journey Nicola made 17 digs and Kara Launder added 12 digs to highlight the defensive effort.

    Chloe Dick finished with 15 kills and four digs, Lena Finck added seven kills, Caroline Dupler tallied six kills and two digs, Gracie Newlon made eight digs and Ava Snedecker chipped in five kills and two blocks for the Panthers.

    New Lex reserves won 21-25, 25-21, 25-13, as Layla Baker had 12 kills and 12 digs, Audrey Binkley six kills and two blocks and Makayla McCoy 17 assists and seven digs.

    Sheridan 3, Tri-Valley 1: Ava Heller led a balanced effort with nine kills and three aces and made 20 digs to lead the Generals (3-1, 3-0) past the Scotties 25-12, 24-26, 25-14, 27-25 in Big School action.

    Dylan Fox totaled 20 assists, nine digs and eight kills, Josie Ramey had six kills and three blocks and Payton Powell collected 17 digs with eight kills for Sheridan.

    Reese Lamonica had six kills, Nora Dunn made 17 digs, Liv Reffitt added 13 digs, Zoey Snode went 15-of-17 serving with 17 assists and two aces and Addi Wilson hit five kills for the Scotties.

    Sheridan reserves won 25-14, 25-12 behind seven kills, nine assists, 11 digs and 100% serving by Drew Fox, five kills and three digs by Isabella King, 17 digs and 100% serving from Grace Stoltz and Jaycee Wilson with four aces.

    River View 3, John Glenn 0: Haley Balo hit 14 kills with four aces and Ava Donnell and Layla Olinger added eight kills each, as River View beat John Glenn 25-15, 25-14, 25-11 in league play.

    Kelsie Smith set up 34 assists for the Bears' offense. She also had 10 digs and was 100% serving, while Lindyn Fry added nine digs and five assists and Remi Lewis hit six kills for River View (3-3, 2-1).

    Ava Harmon had six kills, Mya Stamm chipped in seven digs and four kills, Lauren Blair had 17 assists with three digs, Sophia Markel and Brelynn Barr made six digs and Sophie Emerson had four digs for the Muskies (3-3, 1-2).

    Hailey Myers had 10 points and Karli Stickdorn nine for River View reserves in a 26-24, 25-22 win. Cecilee Perkins had eight assists and seven digs, Leah Johnson four kills, four digs and two aces, Akeelah VanDyne three kills and three aces and Blair Briggs two kills and four digs for John Glenn.

    Coshocton 3, Crooksville 0: Lacey Guthrie tallied 14 kills, 13 assists and seven digs and Lilah Laaper passed out 19 assists, as the Redskins topped the Ceramics 25-17, 25-13, 25-13 in Small School action.

    Jaeli Tiedt also served seven aces with six digs, Kenidi Jackson had eight kills, three digs and two aces, Saige Abbott chipped in five digs, four kills and three aces and Leah Mathias also hit seven kills for the winners.

    Kellie Caton had five points, two kills and two digs, Maelee Collins 15 digs, Mylee Davis four kills and Brynn Lundell seven digs and two points for the Ceramics.

    Coshocton reserves won 25-20, 25-12, as Kylee Raber had six kills, seven assists and four aces, Savannah Gambill 11 assists and three kills and Phoenix Celeschi five aces and three assists.

    West Muskingum 3, Maysville 0: The Tornadoes (3-5, 1-2) took down the Panthers 25-18, 25-14, 25-14 in a MVL crossover.

    Sailor Atkins made 16 digs, Bekah Scott added 13 digs, Riley Dooley tallied eight digs and five assists, Avery Daniels tallied 11 digs and Haylee Cornett hit eight kills and made four blocks for the Panthers.

    Maysville reserves won 25-18, 18-25, 25-20, as Lily Tumblin had 10 kills, three aces and three digs, Sophie Dennis eight kills, six aces and two digs and Toryn Smith six kills, six digs and five aces.

    Morgan 3, Philo 1: The Raiders outlasted the Electrics in four sets, 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23.

    Boys Soccer

    West Muskingum 2, Morgan 1: Jax Prang knocked in the game-winner with 1:10 left, as the Tornadoes dropped the Raiders in MVL play.

    Silas Kuhn also had a goal and an assist and Jacob Agin assisted a goal for West M.

    John Glenn 2, Tri-Valley 1: Will Nicolozakes knocked home the game winner with four minutes left, sending the Muskies past the Scotties.

    Maysville 6, Philo 0: Wyatt Mynes went for a hat trick, as the Panthers (3-1-1) scored three goals in each half against the Electrics (2-1-1).

    Cameron Parker added a goal and an assist, Aiden Brown and Jack Factor also contributed goals, and Shepp Cosgrave and Dawson Harper combined for the shutout for Maysville, which heads to Fairfield Union on Thursday.

    Lancaster 4, Coshocton 0

    Girls Soccer

    Rosecrans 4, Reynoldsburg 0: Lillie Dosch scored twice, as the Bishops shut out the Raiders.

    Elle Jones and Sydnee Maxwell added a goal each, Maxwell and Jackie Connell had assists, Kate Ward made five saves and Mallory Moody stopped a penalty kick for the Bishops.

    New Lexington 2, Ridgewood 1: Lilah Carson and Makenzy McCoy scored in the second-half to help the Panthers rally from a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat the Generals.

    Hiland 4, River View 2: The Hawks scored twice in each half to down the Bears.

    Kylie Miller scored and assisted a goal by Alyssa Fox for River View. Regan Foster made seven saves.

    Boys Golf

    John Glenn 151, Coshocton 221: Noah Devers took medalist honors with a 35 to lead the Muskies in a MVL tri-match with Coshocton and River View at River Greens.

    CJ Dolan added a 37, Cooper Briggs a 38 and JT Orecchio a 41 for John Glenn; Bransyn Dawson shot 43, Zach Fink 50 and Jerison Spain and Tristan Hartmeyer 64 for Coshocton; and Gavin Gress and Caleb Kline carded 36s for the Black Bears.

    Sheridan 169, Meadowbrook 177, Philo 185: Medalist Wyatt Satterfield shot 40 to pace the Generals in a tri-meet win on par-35 front nine at Fuller's Fairways.

    Canyon Daly carded a 42, Owen Cains a 43 and Noah Wamer a 44 for Sheridan; Gunner Davis shot 42, Kam Winnett 43, Ben Coss 45 and Colton Delancey 47 for the Colts; and AJ Layton fired a 42, Luke Neff a 43, Tanner Brookover a 49 and Josh Gooden a 51 for the Electrics.

    West Muskingum 154, Crooksville 172, Morgan 214 : Reid Lemity and Hayden Lambert of West M shared medalists honors with 36 at Lakeside.

    Bo White led the Ceramics with a 37, while Gabe Sandefur and Briden Hall shot 44 and Drew Horn and Brayden Watts had 47.

    Buckeye Trail 156, Tusky Valley 176: Braden St. Clair and Carson Raber shared medalist honors with 37 at the Warriors improved to 7-1 at Wilkshire.

    Sam Wayble shot 40 and Chase Miller had a 42 to round out the scoring.

    Cambridge eighth at Buckeye 8 tournament: Mason Gregg had a two-round total of 170, as the Bobcats finished eighth in the Buckeye 8 tournament.

    Gregg posted an 82 to earn all-conference honorable mention, while Austin Jenkins shot a 95, but did not play on the first day. Jax VanDyne and Garrett Carpenter shot 103 with VanDyne putting up a two-day total of 193 and Carpenter scoring a 198. Gavin Guiler rounded out the golfers with a 118 for a two-day total of 218.

    Girls Golf

    John Glenn 201, Tri-Valley 206, Philo 227: Lilly Hoffman took medalist honors with a 42, as the Muskies won a tri-meet.

    Libbee Baughman added a 48, Kiley Van Fossen a 54 and Teagan Conn a 57 for John Glenn; Lexie Geyer fired a 49, Kendall Kennedy a 51, Gwyn Dal Ponte a 52 and Regan Shrier a 54 for the Scotties; and Taiylor Winland carded a 53, Khloe Lamay a 56, Grace Hargraves a 58 and Grace Stephen a 60 for the Electrics.

    Ridgewood 191, Indian Valley 200: Medalist Brynn Harstine posted an even-par 36 on the par-36 Greens Course at River Greens, as the Generals topped the Braves.

    Jacey Hess made two birdies in her 41, Josie Stanton scored a 52 and Zoe Martin had 62 for Ridgewood, while Indian Valley was led by Aubrey Elliott with a 43, Riley Positano with a 49 and Mallorie Dean and Payton Beaber with 54s.

    Meadowbrook girls third at own invite: The Colts totaled 383 to place behind Garaway (363) and Fort Frye (377) in Monday's Meadowbrook Girls Invitational at Cambridge Country Club.

    Alyx Leach shot an 87, Layla Gray a 94, Landry Davis a 100 and Liv Gray a 102 for the team's scoring.

    Monday's results

    Boys Soccer

    Rosecrans 4, Zanesville 3: Tizian Schmelzer's fourth goal — all in the first 30 minutes after halftime — proved to be the difference as visiting Rosecrans earned a win against Zanesville at John D. Sulsberger Memorial Stadium.

    Schmelzer's final scoring strike gave his team a 4-3 lead with 10 minutes left, and goalie Dawson Larson made some key saves down the stretch to preserve the Bishops' win.

    Cam Van Kirk scored twice and Connor Baldwin also connected for Zanesville, which led 200 at the half. The Blue Devils also got two assists from Reece Neal and Greyson Goines had 10 saves.

    Morgan 1, Albany Alexander 1: Braylon Miller scored off an assist from Jude Garber to help the Raiders salvage a tie on the road in a nonleague match.

    Morgan visits West Muskingum on Tuesday.

    Marietta 3, River View 1: Hayden Walters scored off a Brody Stevens assist to account for the Black Bears' only goal in a road loss to the unbeaten Tigers.

    Walters' goal tied the match at the half, but the Tigers scored twice after halftime to take the lead for good.

    Boys Golf

    Philo 183, Rosecrans 193: A.J. Layton shot 39 for medalist honors as the Electrics earned a nonleague win on the back nine at Fuller's Fairways.

    Josh Gooden added 43, Tanner Brookover 47 and Luke Neff 54 for Philo; Evan Bauer had 43 and Andy Solt 46 for Rosecrans and Mark Gresley shot 50.

    Tri-Valley 158, Maysville 160, New Lex 188: Xander Smalley's 1-over-par 36 was good for medalist honors as the Scotties earned a Muskingum Valley League conquest on the front nine at EagleSticks.

    Jou Chow was next for Tri-Valley with 37, followed by Gavin "Big Country" Harrold (41) and Connor Preston (44).

    Ian Huff's 38 paced host Maysville, which also saw Slade Shreve post 40 and Hoyt Dodson, Cade Pickrell and Ethan Wright 41.

    Rocco Stanton's 44 led New Lex; Grady Schmelzer posted 45, Hunter Heavener 47 and Austin Bray 52.

    Girls Golf

    Tri-Valley 192, Licking Valley 192, River View 208: Kortnee Mickle shot 41 for the Lady Bears in a trimatch at Vista Golf Course.

    Addyson Blair added 52, Shieann Waldren 53 and Carlie Stottlemire 62 for River View.

    No other scores were available.

    Girls Soccer

    Albany Alexander 8, Morgan 0: The Raiders were shut out on the road against the Spartans.

    Karah Allison and Megan Cheadle had two goals for Alexander (4-1) and Cheadle also had two assists.

    Volleyball

    Buckeye Trail outlasts Fort Frye: The Warriors topped the Cadets in five sets, 14-25, 25-13, 25-7, 23-25, 15-11.

    Anna McVicker and Kayla Hinkle went 17-of-17 serving, McVicker added 17 points, 22 assists, 10 kills, 15 digs and four aces, Vayda Neuhart hit 17 kills, Sydney Patterson made 23 digs with seven assists, Hinkle chipped in 18 digs, 11 points and five kills and Karsyn Oldson went 15-of-15 serving with 11 kills and 11 points
