The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced on Tuesday it will host its annual National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration in Cowlitz County.

Participants can enjoy hands-on activities like trout fishing, rod and reel casting practice, and arts and crafts, according to the department. Minors who come with an accompanying adult will get to shoot guns, including 20-gauge shotguns and .22 air rifles, the WDFW reports further.

The free event is scheduled for Saturday, Sep. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Cowlitz Public Shooting Range in Cowlitz County at 1000 Toutle Park Road, Castle Rock, WA 98611, according to the WDFW.

WDFW officials encourage would-be attendees to pre-register youth participants 17 years and younger to allow WDFW to prepare for the expected attendance.

The event will also feature door prize drawings and giveaways donated by local and national businesses, the WDFW reports.

Volunteers are wanted for National Hunting and Fishing Day and interested parties can visit the WDFW volunteer event list webpage for more information.
