OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man reportedly fled officers by running out a back door of a residence in Oil City, leaving behind three young children. According to a release issued on Tuesday, June 26, Franklin-based State Police were in the area of Linden Avenue and Deer Street, in Oil City, Venango County, around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, checking on a previous incident.

Man facing charges for pointing loaded revolver at neighbors
Thomas Cain, 82, from Franklin, is facing charges after pointing a cocked, loaded revolver at his neighbors and threatening them during a visit at his Sugarcreek Borough home. Franklin state police responded to a call early Thursday morning, where a man reported that Cain had threatened him and his 16-year-old son after they helped Cain load tires onto his truck. While showing old photos at his home, Cain became irate over a missing flashlight, drew a revolver, and made threats. The man managed to calm Cain down, and they found the flashlight in the kitchen. Cain was charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, terroristic threats, and reckless endangerment. His preliminary hearing is set for July 17.

No one injured in fire at Franklin residence
A fire broke out at 5:15 p.m. in the basement of a residence at 312 Sixth St. in Franklin on Wednesday. The Franklin Fire Department arrived to find smoke and flames visible from the exterior. Firefighters quickly entered through an open basement garage door and extinguished the fire within minutes. They ensured the fire was completely out and ventilated the building to remove smoke. The two apartments in the structure suffered only smoke damage, while the basement sustained smoke, heat, and water damage, with losses estimated at $5,000. The fire has been ruled accidental in nature, and the scene was cleared at about 6:20 p.m.
