The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department says a standoff is underway in Toms River between police and the man they believe to be a suspect in a deadly shooting in Manchester Township last week. The sheriff tells News 12 that the suspect is barricaded in a home on Ravenwood Drive. Officials also say that shots were fired at police officers.
Maxwell Johnston, 35, is wanted in the shooting of 25-year-old Gabriella Caroleo that happened on June 27 in Manchester. A warrant was issued for Johnston’s arrest on July 3. He was charged with murder and weapons charges. Toms River police say that all residents in the immediate area of the standoff have been evacuated. They are asking all other people to stay away from the area at this time.
