Tonawanda, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Town of Tonawanda Police Club will be hosting their annual Thomas Dhiel Memorial Scholarship Picnic on August 1st from 2-9 p.m. ET at the Brighton Firehall.

President of the club, Andy Thompson, explained the importance of the picnic and why they hold it.

"The funds that we raise from this picnic allow us to give scholarships out to students in Tonawanda, but also allows us to donate to various events throughout the town and throughout western New York."

Tickets are required for the event, however, Thompson says they can be purchased before or at the event.

"You can come right to the Town of Tonawanda Police Station - right to the front desk, we sell tickets there. It is 21 and over. Tickets are $35 presale, 40 at the door. We're gonna have raffles TV giveaways. 5050s and going to be a good time."
