Florida has come a long way from a paradise to becoming one of the worst places to live in just under a year.

The Sunshine State is now one of the top 10 worst states to live in. Oklahoma, Louisiana, South Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, Alabama, and Arkansas are also on the list. Texas takes the first spot among the worst.

The cause? According to a CNBC report, inclusiveness and reproductive rights play a huge role in determining how suitable each state is for employees and their families.

Florida dropped from 39th place to 41st in 2023 after enacting a slew of new laws that restricted gender-affirming care, allowed concealed carry without training or permits, allowed healthcare providers to refuse treatment based on personal beliefs, added the harshest restrictions on undocumented immigrants in the US, and many other borderline hostile laws.

Researchers at Northern Illinois University also found Florida to be among the states with the most challenging voting procedures.

Several community and advocacy organizations have issued travel advisories, alerting their members that they risk being singled out in Florida by these laws or by locals who feel empowered to harass or discriminate against them due to the current political climate.

However, a lot of Floridians and many new Floridians disagree. Florida was the No. 1 state where people relocated in 2022, with the country's highest growth.

The credit goes to its beautiful beaches, warm climate, lack of a state income tax, business-friendly government, reputation as a retirement haven, and the state's decision to avoid COVID lockdowns.

A recent study by the relocation business SelfStorage found that Florida was the state from which most people wished to move out.

The migration out of the Sunshine State was attributed to politics, book disagreements, inadequate pay, and growing pressure on classroom teachers.

What do you think about Florida's fall from grace?
