They lost 6-0 on Friday, 4-0 on Saturday, and were dismantled 12-1 last night. The New York Mets offense had no answer against a top-flight Mariners pitching staff as they went an anemic 0-of-16 with RISP in the series and had only 17 hits over the three games. Will New York be able to get back on track this week as they continue to fight for a playoff spot in the National League?

New York Mets Season Summary

New York(61-57) is in third place in the National League East and is half a game back of the third and final National League Wild Card spot. The Mets have been led by a strong offense this season. They are 12th in batting average, sixth in home runs, and 11th in runs scored. The offense of the New York Mets was far better statistically before a terrible series against the Mariners. New York's offense has been paced this season by Shortstop Francisco Lindor and First Baseman Pete Alonso. Lindor leads the club in home runs and RBI while Alonso leads them in round-trippers.

Former batting champion Jeff McNeil is having another rough year at the plate as he has raised his average to .238 following a strong few weeks. The pitching staff of the New York Mets has also been strong this season. They are 20th in ERA, fifth in strikeouts, and third in opposing batting average. Their staff is led by Sean Manaea who leads the team in wins, ERA, and strikeouts.

Mets Upcoming Schedule

The New York Mets have a day off today before beginning a nine-game homestand. They start a three-game series with the Oakland Athletics tomorrow before welcoming the Miami Marlins for a three-game series starting on Friday. A date with two of the worst teams in the league could be exactly what the Mets need as they look to rebound from a brutal series. New York and Miami have split their 10 previous meetings this season.

According to Tankathon, the Mets have a slightly below-average strength of schedule over the remaining games of the 2024 regular season. Their remaining strength of schedule is 19th. The New York Mets have responded well following a tough start to the regular season to put themselves firmly in playoff position.
