Colorado Buffaloes Warren Sapp Is ‘Addicted’ To Coaching

The Colorado Buffaloes have no shortage of star power on the sidelines. Deion Sanders is one of the most magnetic personalities in sports and has brought a lot of attention to the program. He filled out his coaching staff with some former NFL stars as well. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Warren Sapp is in his first coaching gig and revealed he is already addicted.

Colorado Buffaloes Warren Sapp Addicted

Warren Sapp is a graduate assistant coach this year for the Colorado Buffaloes. The Hall of Fame player is loving every minute of it. Reports indicated earlier in the year that the seven-time Pro Bowler was wary of getting into coaching but a visit to Boulder changed his mind. He is glad that he joined the staff.

“For someone that never wanted to do this, I am really addicted to it right now. The babies are really giving me a purpose in life, and I’m enjoying it.”

“I’ve worked with pros that are getting my phone number and tell me they coming to Miami, and my house is a mile and a half from where they work out and they’ll never call. These kids call me at 5:30 in the morning, ‘Coach, you wanna come watch tape with me?’ It’s crazy. I’m like, ‘Yeah, give me a purpose to get off the couch!’ So trust me, I was on my couch watching MSNBC, so I’m loving this. I am loving this.”

Warren Sapp seemed to be dealing with the issue so many professional athletes do after they retire. Their whole lives have been about the sport, and when that is taken away, a purpose is rather hard to find. The young Colorado Buffaloes players are excited to learn from the NFL legend and, in turn, are giving Sapp a renewed purpose.

2024 Outlook

There isn’t a team more polarizing than the Deion Sanders-led team. On the one hand, they have elite talent in some positions. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are early Heisman candidates, and potential top NFL Draft picks. Sanders upgraded the offensive line via the transfer portal and now has another year under his belt. However, it won’t be easy. They have five teams on the schedule ranked in the preseason Top 25.

The team will simply need to play better, and there are still questions about Coach Prime’s coaching prowess. There is no question about the ability of his recruiting, but it takes more than talent to win. 2024 will be an eye-opening year for this program and for Deion Sanders.
