The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers’ matchups are arguably must-see television, and the recent news about the Intuit Dome could overshadow the Mavericks-Clippers rivalry. According to Sports Illustrated, the Intuit Dome is as state-of-the-art as it gets, with a halo board, phone chargers in every seat, t-shirt cannons in the rafters, and much more. The Mavericks will be the first NBA team to visit the Intuit Dome.

Marc Stein recently reported that the Clippers’ first home preseason game will be against the Mavericks on October 14th. Their first regular season game will be against Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns on October 23rd. The arena will host a few concerts before any basketball game, starting with back-to-back Bruno Mars concerts this weekend.

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers have had a rich history since the early 2020s. The Mavericks and Clippers faced off in three playoff series. Los Angeles won back-to-back playoff series in 2020 and 2021, but Dallas responded by winning a playoff series in 2024. That said, Intuit Arena’s grand opening should be a marquee matchup between two arguably bitter playoff rivals.

The Mavericks handed the Clippers a first-round exit in the 2024 NBA playoffs. Aside from being the new home of the Los Angeles Clippers, Intuit Arena is scheduled to serve as a basketball venue for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. Intuit Arena’s opener would be star-studded, to say the least, as Bruno Mars, a singer-songwriter and Honolulu, Hawaii, native based in Los Angeles, is set to open the arena with a concert on August 15.

Intuit Arena’s groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 17, 2021. Previously, the City of Inglewood approved an exclusive negotiating agreement with the Clippers to build a new, basketball-specific arena for the team, that would be located across from SoFi Stadium.
