Deion Sanders Ripped By College Football Fans After Loss To Nebraska

Deion Sanders put the Colorado Buffaloes football program on the map. Last season, they started with huge victories and a top-25 appearance. The rest of the season, they struggled, but with it being the first year, it was a good start. The expectations increased in year two. Behind the play of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, Coach Prime has made no secret this team expects to compete. After the first two games, it doesn’t look good. After barely beating FCS North Dakota State, the team got shellacked by Nebraska. College football fans took to social media to rip Deion Sanders and his coaching.

Deion Sanders Criticized By Fans On Social Media

Fans acknowledge Deion Sanders has done great at branding the Colorado football program. He is able to bring in talented coaches and players. Every game is a star-studded affair. People are starting to question his coaching. One fan posted, “Deion Sanders is one of the worst football coaches I’ve ever seen at the college or pro level. Every week, this Colorado team is unprepared, undisciplined, unaware, and unimpressive.” Another fan declared, “The Deion Sanders experiment is over.”

One analyst acknowledged the good things he has done saying, “Deion Sanders has done some AMAZING things for Colorado — building a good football team isn’t one of them.” The list goes on and on. It wasn’t just that the Buffaloes lost. They looked completely unprepared to play the game. Colorado didn’t find the endzone until there was 8:45 left in the game. Shedeur Sanders was constantly under pressure, and the run game was ineffective. This is a pattern from which criticism comes.

Doing It To Themselves

On the one hand, Deion Sanders took over a 1-11 program and improved by three wins. The trajectory of the program looks good. However, the program has invited this type of criticism. Sanders and his family have become media icons. Coach Prime is constantly in the news regardless of what his team is doing. During commercial breaks, Sanders is all over. With these actions come expectations. Sanders isn’t going to change his personality. However, it does mean more criticism may come his way.

The Colorado Buffaloes season isn’t over by any means. Travis Hunter is still must-see television and makes at least three ridiculous plays every game on both sides of the ball. However, Deion Sanders has to start showing improvement. If every game the team comes out flat, the criticism will only get louder.
