Delaware 6th-grader publishes storybook about teamwork
Austin R. Davis is only in 6th-grade, but recently became a published author.The story he wrote, 'Dogs vs Bears,' is all about teamwork and setting aside your differences. Davis says it's something he learned from his father.Recently, Davis had the opportunity to return to his former school, Celebree School of Middletown, and read to students. Golden Mule keeps its license; fined by liquor board
ELKTON — The Cecil County Board of License Commissioners on Wednesday agreed to allow The Golden Mule to keep its Class D Liquor License. However, the board fined the Rising Sun tavern’s owners $2,000 for various county and state violations. Larry McElroy, co-owner of the bar and restaurant at 1809 Conowingo Road in Rising Sun, apologized for the course of events but said he has had high staff turnover and “a challenging economy.” He said the manager that was in place has been replaced. ...
Artists sought for juried art show
ELKTON — The Cecil County Arts Council seeks artists of all ages to enter its 25th Annual Juried Art Show to be held in October at their gallery, 135 East Main St. in Elkton. Submissions will be taken through Oct. 2. There will be a reception Oct. 4 as part of First Friday in downtown Elkton. Artists must submit three pieces to the council office Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The cost is $10 per piece to enter. A juror will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes as well as honorable mention. There will also be a People’s Choice Award chosen by those who view the gallery show during October.
