A person was stabbed Tuesday night near Towson University, police said.

At about 10:25 p.m., Baltimore County Police officers responded to the unit block of West Chesapeake Avenue for an assault report and found a victim with a laceration to the upper body, the department said.

Police believe the victim and suspect were involved in a physical altercation that occurred at the intersection of York Road and Chesapeake Avenue. The suspect fled the area south on York Road after the stabbing, Towson University Police wrote in a safety advisory Tuesday night.

Baltimore County Police said this was an isolated incident between known parties. As of Wednesday morning, the department didn’t have an update on the victim’s condition.

A suspect has been identified and will be charged accordingly, county police said, but hasn’t said whether there’s been an arrest.

The altercation was only a seven-minute walk from Towson University and a two-minute walk from the Towson Chamber of Commerce. The area is home to businesses such as The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille, 7-Eleven, Chicken Lab Towson, 7 West Bistro Grille, Insomnia Cookies and The York, which brands itself as student housing, as well as the Towson branch of the Baltimore County Public Library.
