Hymas Update – “I Was In The Wrong Place At The Wrong Time”
The 250 Moto 2 at the Millville National went wild. Heavy rain and a lightning storm delayed the race, and chaos ensued in the first turn. Chance Hymas appeared to secure the holeshot but lost traction, sticking his leg out and catching Deegan’s front wheel, causing Deegan to crash. Hymas, who was second in 250 points, injured himself and was out of the race. Honda HRC reported a foot or ankle injury, but x-rays were negative. He will undergo further tests for ligament damage, as he couldn’t put weight on the foot.

Portland Aquatic Club 16-year-old Mena Boardman continued to impress on the back half of the meet, winning the women’s 100 fly in 1:00.21. That swim wasn’t a personal best for Boardman, as she’s been 59.37 before, but she did manage to win the race by a whopping 1.62 seconds nonetheless.

Really, it only took one throw for West Linn incoming senior Hayden Williams-Downing to crown herself as the No. 1 high school javelin thrower in the country. On Saturday, competing as a member of the Super Thrower Track Club, Williams-Downing recorded a throw of 157 feet, one inch in her first attempt at the 2024 American JavFest in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
