A section of Troutdale is going dark at the end of the week during the installation of new power lines.

Portland General Electric will conduct the work sometime Friday, July 19. The outage power is expected to be out for up to four hours sometime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The impacted area includes Southwest Indian John Place, Southwest Hope Circle, Southwest 28th Street, Southwest Faith Court and Southwest Charity Court.

The goal is to create new overhead lines to improve service in those neighborhoods. Residents affected by the outage should have also been notified by mail.

Any questions can be directed to PGE at 503-612-3730 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Reference project number: M3426135.

The planned outage will take place during ongoing hot summer weather — the National Weather Service predicts a high of 91 degrees that day. The Oregon Health Authority warns of heat exhaustion, with symptoms including:

Feeling faint or dizzyHeavy seatingA fast, weak pulseNausea or vomitingCold, pale, clammy skinMuscle cramps

If you have any of those symptoms, move to a cooler location, apply a wet cloth to your body, and drink more water.
