Sav-A-Life Troy has set the goal of one million dollars for the construction of a new facility that will meet the growing needs of the women’s center. The Vine Church has recently joined SAV-A-LIFE ‘s fundraising campaign and is sponsoring “Community Movie Night” with a $10 minimum ticket donation.

Here’s why Sav-A-Life Troy needs a new building

Sav-A-Life Troy, Inc. has been at the current address, 523 S. Three Notch St., since 2010. Over the years, as our services have grown, we have renovated this building, which was a house originally, as best we could. In 2018, Kimble Adamson Construction renovated the building to offer more counseling rooms and an ultrasound room. We have a portable building that houses Christine’s Boutique, where clients that take our online classes can shop for items for their infants and/or toddlers with the points that they’ve earned.

It wasn’t long before Jane Ward, executive director, and Gwen Martin RN realized that the center had outgrown its space. They began to assess the possibility of adding onto the building again, but with limited parking in both the front of the building and the back, they realized that the only solution would be to move into a bigger building. And not just any building – one that had the space and the room to house all of our operations. This building would be our forever home, so it had to be big enough for current use and have the potential to be expanded to meet the needs in the future. Property was donated to us in 2022, and a preliminary floor plan was drawn up. The floor plan was estimated at up to $1.4 million.

If we are to continue to serve families in Pike and surrounding counties effectively and more efficiently, we need more space. Our greatest spacial needs are privacy, storage, consultations, convenience, parking and more. This is not a luxury for us; this is a necessity.

Sav-A-Life Troy invites every one to come and visit our center and see firsthand what we do and how we serve our community.

Facts about Sav-A-Life Troy Inc. Women’s Life Center

Sav-A-Life Troy, Inc. was incorporated in 1986 by Christine Green and Ames Rhoades as a pregnancy center helping women facing unplanned or crisis pregnancies that were considering abortion. The purpose of this Christian organization then was to provide support to these women and their families.

That purpose has not changed. Only today Sav-A-Life Troy serves those who are not necessarily facing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy, but women and families that come to our center first to confirm their pregnancies, Ward said.

In 2023, SALTI served 1,797 women and their families through pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, online classes, on site education, medical referrals, material support, agency referrals, adoption referrals, and emotional and spiritual support. This number was an increase of around 10 percent from the preceding year. This number includes women of Pike, Barbour, Bullock, Dale, Crenshaw, Montgomery and Butler counties.

Agencies refer women to Sav-A-Life Troy for services that they may or not offer. These agencies include Troy Regional Medical Center, Pike County Health Department, Troy Resilience Project, churches, government entities, Charles Henderson Child Health Center, and more. All the services we offer are free and confidential.

Sav-A-Life Troy is currently staffed by three registered nurses and two social services professionals in their fields and one volunteer and are constantly developing its staff through trainings, both on and offsite. The center in Troy is open five days a week Monday through Friday. We also have a center open in Brundidge every Thursday.

Sav-A-Life is a 501(c)3 organization. Our main source of income comes from individual and organizational donations and three main fundraisers: a dinner, Baby Bottle Boomerang, and a golf tournament.
