Tualatin police and other local law enforcement and fire agencies used boats, drones and police K-9s to track down a man suspected of assaulting a woman Thursday.

The incident began at approximately 6:05 a.m., when Tualatin Police Department officers responded to a call of a man assaulting a woman on the railroad tracks near 19605 S.W. Boones Ferry Road. When they arrived, they saw the suspect, Tualatin resident Troy Tedtaotao, 33, running from the scene.

They chased him a little more than half a mile as he headed towards the Tualatin River near Tualatin Community Park. That’s where he jumped down an embankment and into the river.

Other agencies that responded included the Washington County Sheriff’s Office along with the agency’s Tactical Negotiations Team, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Tigard Police Department and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

Tedtaotao was taken into custody and lodged in Washington County Jail on charges of second-degree domestic assault.
