Alabama Crimson Tide Offensive Star Makes Bold Claim For 2024

The Alabama Crimson Tide are used to success, which was why this past season felt like a failure in Tuscaloosa.

The 2023 campaign represented the first time since 2014 that Alabama didn’t win a bowl game, as the Crimson Tide fell to the eventual champion Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl.

That left a sour taste in the mouths of the school’s returning players, especially offensive lineman Tyler Booker.

Booker—who is projected to be a potential first-round draft pick next spring—isn’t just guaranteeing a bowl victory. He is claiming that Alabama will win a national championship in its inaugural season without Nick Saban.

“We’re gonna stay here, and we’re going to win a national championship because we haven’t won a national championship yet,” Booker said, via Katie Windham of Sports Illustrated.

“Malachi [Moore] has one from his freshman year, but we want one as our team,” Booker continued. “We want this to be our team, our national championship. We have the talent in house to be able to do that. We were seven points away from winning a national championship. We can’t lose sight of that.”

Can Alabama survive the loss of Nick Saban?

It’s difficult to put into words exactly what Saban meant to the University of Alabama.

The legendary coach led the Crimson Tide to six national championships between 2007 and 2023, which included a pair of undefeated campaigns in 2009 and 2020.

Not only that, but Alabama played in nine national championship games during Saban’s tenure and had a stretch of eight straight years where he led the Crimson Tide to bowl wins. Alabama also won nine SEC titles under Saban’s direction.

Kalen DeBoer will succeed Saban, but whether or not the former Washington Huskies coach can even begin to approach the type of success Saban experienced in Tuscaloosa remains to be seen.

Alabama will also face stiff competition from the likes of Georgia, Mississippi and Texas in the SEC in 2024.
