Our Town: Mountain Top Days Parade 2024
“Our Town” is the theme for this year’s Mountain Top Days parade for 2024. Organized by the Running Springs Chamber of Commerce made up of dedicated and committed volunteers, team and staff members. Entertainment participants will be Scott Richardson, our traditional high wheeler, dressed up as Uncle Sam, the Blues Star Moms, an organization entailing the sons and daughters that currently or previously served in the military, the Golden Oaks Seniors, country western dancers, the popular smokey the bear are a few to mention in the lineups. Our amazing Fire Dept, Sheriffs, Forestry team, Caltrans and Rim Family Services will be present to show their support of our Running Springs town and community.

Grant to pay for EV charging stations
San Bernardino and the San Bernardino County Housing Authority have received a $1.4 million grant to pay for electric vehicle charging stations. The funds from the Southern California Association of Governments will finance 16 stations near Baseline Street at the Arrowhead Grove Housing Community, according to a statement on San Bernardino’s website.
Colton City Council Faces Backlash Over Bypassing RFQ Process for 10-Year CR&R Contract
In a decision that has left many residents dissatisfied, the Colton City Council voted to extend its contract with CR&R, Inc. for municipal solid waste collection services for another 10 years without undergoing a Request for Proposal (RFQ) process. The move, which bypasses the city’s own municipal code, has sparked criticism from both council members and the public.

"Resilience" Mural to be Unveiled at Encanto
A new mural entitled “Resilience” by San Bernardino artist Brenda Angel will be unveiled at a 10:00 am ceremony on Wednesday, July 31 at the Encanto Community Center, located at 1108 West 9th Street. This is the second mural to be dedicated as part of the City of San Bernardino Beautification and Cultural Infusion Project funded through a Creative Corps Inland SoCal grant, from the Inland Empire Community Foundation in partnership with the California Arts Council.
Fontana extends building moratorium, another blow to Planned Parenthood
A Planned Parenthood in Fontana suffered another blow after the city extended its building moratorium for another year on Tuesday. While the organization has rented the building for two years, it's been unable to open. "It's very clear that it's targeted, that's without a doubt," Planned Parenthood spokesperson Nichole Ramirez said. Planned Parenthood is known for championing reproductive rights. Local candidates pull papers; General Election is Nov. 5
This year, on Nov. 5, the City of Yucaipa and Calimesa will hold a general municipal election. The City of Yucaipa has three seat vacancies; District 3, District 4 and District 5, all with four-year terms. The candidate nomination filing period will be from July 15 to Aug. 9. Candidates can pull paperwork with the City Clerk Ana Sauceda, on the city’s website. Paperwork is due Aug. 9 at noon. Candidates can only serve in the district of residence. The current runners are Georgeann Hanna, District 3; Councilman Bobby Dean Duncan, District 3; Lyle Vick, District 3; Mayor Justin Beaver, District 4 and Councilman Jon Thorpe, District 5. Crafton’s vets recognized at special ceremony
Graduating Roadrunners who served the country in the military were individually recognized at a special ceremony hosted by Crafton Hills College’s Veterans Resource Center. Thirteen veteran students received special regalia to celebrate their accomplishments, from specialty chords and stoles to an all-new challenge coin designed to pay homage to the sacrifices made during their time of service.
