‘False Fall’ Ending: Georgia Braces for More Heat
After a string of unseasonably cool days, Georgians woke up this morning to what might be the last gasp of the state’s first “false fall” of the year. With temperatures in the 80s and a crispness in the air that hinted at the changing seasons, it was just a brief reprieve before the heat is set to return, reminding residents that summer isn’t over yet.
Applications open for Georgia's Veterinary Education Loan Repayment Program
The Georgia Veterinary Education Loan Repayment Program (GVELRP) provides financial relief, by way of student loan repayment, for veterinarians willing to provide veterinary services for food animals in shortage areas around the state. This program is administered by the State Veterinary Education Board with assistance from the Georgia Student Finance Authority (GSFA). The Board also receives administrative support from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. The application period for 2025 will be open from Aug 1, 2024, through Sept 30, 2024. Through the weekend temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 80s with a mix of sun and clouds. Hot and humid conditions return next week as temperatures get back into the low 90s.

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) unveiled “CinéMode par Jean Paul Gaultier” at the university’s international campus in Lactose, France on May 1. On view until September 30, the exhibition was curated under the creative direction of the French fashion designer, Jean Paul Gaultier, in collaboration with Matthieu Orléan and Florence Tissot. The concept came to light in co-organization from the “La Caixa” Foundation and La Cinémathèque Française. “CinéMode” at SCAD Lacoste sheds light on Gaultier’s personal inspirations and imaginations in the glamorous cinematic world and how it translates into fashion.

A tragic multi-vehicle crash claimed the life of a local radio personality on Friday, August 23, 2024. The incident occurred around 11:00pm near the intersection of Hwy. 301 South and Oakwood Drive. Bulloch County 911 dispatched multiple emergency response teams, including Bulloch County EMS, Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies, Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Troopers, and Bulloch County Fire, to the scene.
