PHOENIX — Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego announced today the city's commitment to supporting All-Star fans with the unveiling of two new street signs in honor of the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game. The event took place at the southwest corner of 3rd Street and Jefferson.

City officials and representatives from the Phoenix Mercury were on hand to discuss the significance of the WNBA All-Star Game and the collaborative efforts that went into the event's planning and preparation.

"Today we are here as part of the city's efforts to show our All-Star fans that the city is behind them," Gallego said. "We will unveil two street signs today: All-Star Avenue and Team USA Way."

Phoenix Mercury President Vince Kozar expressed gratitude to Mayor Gallego, City of Phoenix staff, and partners amid the bustling preparations for the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game.

"Exactly 365 days ago at Footprint Center, we hosted a rally to announce our hosting of the WNBA All-Star Game," Kozar said. "Now, thanks to leadership and investment from Matt Ishbia and our partners like the City of Phoenix, we've built what we believe is the best All-Star Game and weekend in WNBA history."

Discussing community impact beyond sports, Kozar noted initiatives like the Junior Mercury Legacy League, which has grown significantly with support from the Mercury and a matching investment from Devin Booker.

"We've also refurbished courts and dedicated murals, such as at CPLC DeColores, benefiting the community long-term," he added.

On Monday, July 8, the Mercury revealed four newly renovated outdoor basketball courts at Rose Mofford Sports Complex in Phoenix.

Looking ahead to the WNBA All-Star weekend, Kozar expressed excitement.

"When visitors come to Phoenix this weekend, they'll experience the All-Star atmosphere through city signage, dedications, and events," Kozar said.

"We're thrilled to unveil these contributions and look forward to a successful All-Star Game and weekend."
