PHOENIX - Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) has partnered with NBCUniversal and Telemundo for the annual "Clear the Shelters" pet adoption and donation campaign.

Since its launch by NBCUniversal Local in 2015, this nationwide initiative has helped over one million pets find homes and raised millions of dollars for animal shelters and rescues.

This year marks the campaign's 10th anniversary, running from Aug. 10 to Sept. 10. MCACC will participate by waiving adoption fees for all dogs six months and older on Saturday, Sept. 7, and Sunday, Sept. 8.

“We are ecstatic and thankful to be part of the ‘Clear The Shelters’ campaign and to partner with NBCUniversal and Telemundo for the tenth year in a row,” said Kim Powell, MCACC’s communications supervisor.

“We are currently overcapacity at our East and West Valley shelters, and we believe the event will help many dogs find their forever homes,” added Powell.

Prospective pet owners can visit MCACC's shelters located in the East Valley at 1920 S. Lewis, Mesa, and in the West Valley at 2500 S. 27th Ave., Phoenix.

The shelters are open Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., and weekends from noon to 5 p.m. All adoptions include spay/neuter services, microchipping, and age-appropriate vaccinations.

For those interested in contributing, donations to participating shelters or rescues can be made throughout the campaign period.

"Clear the Shelters" continues to be a vital initiative, making a significant impact on pet adoption and the welfare of animals across the nation, according to MCACC.
