Tanner Carrick Clinches Ocean Sprints Victory to Kick Off Johnny Key Classic
Tanner Carrick dominated the Ocean Sprints feature, leading all 30 laps at Ocean Speedway, winning a $2,000 payout, ahead of the $3,000 Johnny Key Classic showdown on Saturday. The race saw action-packed moments, including a significant crash on lap 20 that briefly halted Carrick’s strong lead. After avoiding a restart challenge from Gauge Garcia, Carrick finished comfortably, followed by Bud Kaeding and Garcia. Expanding summer youth programming and keeping young people busy
The Department of Youth and Community Development has been at work this summer providing summer programming to New York City’s young people through its Summer Youth Empowerment and Saturday Night Lights programs, Beacon and Cornerstone Community Centers and more. And recently Mayor Eric Adams joined DYCD Commissioner Keith Howard to announce $2 million in expanded summer programming and services for the final months of summer to serve underserved communities, specifically those mentioned in “A Blueprint for Community Safety,” a roadmap addressing gun violence throughout the five boroughs. With 100,000 spots available in the employment program and other programming to get involved in, the city is encouraging youth to stay busy this summer.

DWI Checkpoint Set for Saturday Night
As the stormy weather is predicted to subside, a DWI checkpoint will be set-up in Monmouth County on Saturday night, the Monmouth County DWI Task Force announced. Starting at 9 p.m. and running through 1 a.m. on Sunday morning all vehicles headed north on Main Street will be diverted onto Elberon Avenue. There, DWI Task Force members and Allenhurst police will screen drivers for sobriety.
