Eight bands to play free concerts at Union’s Sestercentennial, July 19 - 21
UNION — Music lovers of all ages will enjoy music of many styles during the celebration weekend of Union’s 250th anniversary in July, according to Union Sestercentennial Committee Co-chairs Keith Siegel and Argy Nestor, in a news release. In addition, there will be food trucks and other attractions – a full listing and complete schedule can be found at the Union Historical Society website.
New Art-in-Nature exhibit displayed along Pen Bay Community Wellness Trail
ROCKPORT — The sight of art and nature together can be an incredibly therapeutic experience. Amidst the trees, flowers, animals and scenic views of Penobscot Bay, Pen Bay Medical Center has infused nature with 11 oval-shaped pendants along its 1.5-mile Wellness Trail. Each pendant was created by local artists Peter Walls and Allegra Kuhn and stand 3-feet wide by 4-feet high mounted on 12-foot poles, meant to draw attention to the allure of the surrounding landscape to help enhance a healing environment.
Pen Bay Medical Center adds new “Help Yourself Shelf”
ROCKPORT — As part of its efforts to help those experiencing food insecurity, Pen Bay Medical Center has added a new self-serve pantry shelf on its campus in Rockport. The new “Help Yourself Shelf” is located on the first floor of the Physicians Building, just inside the main entrance. The hospital’s other pantry shelves are located on the first and second floors of the Beebe Health Center, located on the Pen Bay campus at 15 Anchor Drive in Rockport, and at Pen Bay Walk-in Care, located at 22 White St. in Rockland.
