Maine State Ferry to bring in temporary workers to fill staffing shortages
The Mills administration plans to spend more than $700,000 to hire temporary workers to address staffing shortages that have occasionally disrupted ferry service. In recent months, the Maine State Ferry Service has been forced to cancel multiple trips between Rockland and Vinalhaven because it didn't have the minimum number of crew members to meet federal requirements. Ferry service to other islands has also been disrupted because of staffing and maintenance challenges.
“Synthclub!” begins in July at Rockland library

Rockport voters have spoken
On June 11, Rockport voters overwhelmingly approved Article 15, which requires the Select Board, “to appoint an advisory committee to study the costs and benefits of a collaborative approach for improving wastewater treatment systems in the towns of Rockport and Camden, including a municipal utility district, and to have such committee report findings to the Board prior to the 2025 Rockport Town Meeting and prior to funding the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant”.
LCDC welcomes new campaign manager, opens campaign office
The Lincoln County Democratic Committee (LCDC) has tapped Stephen Wicks, Ph.D. to be the campaign manager for the 2024 election season. Wicks, a lifelong progressive, will work out of LCDC’s new campaign office at 27 River Road, Newcastle. More than 60 people attended a recent open house at the headquarters, where Wicks was officially announced as the campaign manager.
