“Buy Local” food stand now offered in Pen Bay Medical Center cafeteria
ROCKPORT — Pen Bay Medical Center’s Bay View Café is now offering a selection of foods from Maine farms for purchase in its new “Buy Local” food stand. Patients, visitors and care team members will be able to pick up small bags of local coffee, flour, beans, granola, popcorn and more. The Bay View Café is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Amtrak Downeaster to get $50M high-tech control system to improve safety
The Amtrak Downeaster train route in southern Maine will be getting a $51 million upgrade that includes automated technology to improve safety. Amtrak and CSX Transportation, in partnership with the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, said this week they would install a positive train control system, or PTC, which is designed to automatically control train speeds and movements.

ROCKPORT — Pen Bay Medical Center welcomes Melissa Powers, FNP, to its Wound Healing Center. Powers comes to Pen Bay from St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor, where she was a registered nurse in the acute and intensive care units.
